Joao Montalvao is a development economist at the World Bank’s Africa Gender Innovation Lab. His main research interests focus on gender and property rights, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and human capital. Ongoing work includes randomized control trials in Africa to generate evidence on policy interventions that promote women’s economic empowerment. Joao has a PhD in economics from the University College London.
